The project incorporates diverse livelihood strategies to uplift the socio-economic status of smallholder farmers, tribal communities, and marginalized households. These interventions focus on sustainable income generation, optimal use of local resources, and empowering communities to achieve self-reliance.

 

1. Vegetable Cultivation

  • Significance: Vegetable farming requires small landholdings, minimal capital, and can significantly improve household nutrition and income.
  • Achievements:
    • 2367 farmers transitioned from single-crop farming to vegetable cultivation.
    • Generated an additional income of ?25,000 to ?40,000 per farmer annually.
    • Community Impact: Enhanced local economy, improved food security, and diversified income streams.

 

2. Mushroom Cultivation

  • Development of Mushroom Spawn:
    • A dedicated production unit develops straw mushroom seeds, supplied to farmers, partner NGOs, and other stakeholders.
    • Supports rural employment by promoting high-demand crops.

 

3. Value Addition of Forest Produce

  • Focus on Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs):
    • Includes Mahua, Tamarind, Jackfruit, Sal Leaves, Sawai Grass, Neem, Karanj, Kusum, and Bamboo.
  • Interventions:
  • Grading, processing, and value addition (e.g., oil extraction, handicrafts, and edible products like pickle, jelly, jam, and chips).
  • Creating market-ready products for better price realization.

4. Livestock Rearing

  • Activities Promoted:
    • Rearing of country birds, poultry, ducks, pigs, and goats.
  • Role in Poverty Alleviation:
  • Provides food products, organic manure, and consistent income sources.
  • Encourages women's involvement, empowering them economically and socially.
